James R. “Red” Gregory Sr., 64, of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Jeffersonville, Ind., and raised in Hardin County. He was a 1965 graduate of Elizabethtown High School and a former assistant football coach at T. K. Stone Middle School. He was inducted in the E’town Area Youth Football Hall of Fame and was a judge advocate of the American Legion Post No. 113 in Elizabethtown. He was an attorney, having practiced as a public defender for Hardin and LaRue counties, as well as maintaining a private general practice in Elizabethtown for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. J. W. and Margaret Ann Blair Gregory.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Davis Gregory; two sons, James R. (Elicia) Gregory Jr. of Louisville and Jeffrey H. (Melissa) Gregory of Elizabethtown; one sister, Judith Ann Gregory of Augusta, Ga.; and six grandchildren, Jey, Ryder, Molly, Harper, Emerson and Lucy Gregory.
A celebration of his life was held Wednesday at the Brown-Pusey House in Elizabethtown.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the E'town Area Youth Football Program or E'town Area Baseball Commission in care of Magnolia Bank.
